Cabinet okays dairy plants in 5 distts, hikes journo pension

The Nitish Kumar-led Bihar cabinet gave nod to open dairy plants in five districts of Bihar among the total 41 proposals it approved on Tuesday, said a communique from the information and public relations department.

Briefing mediapersons after the cabinet meeting, S Siddharth, additional chief secretary of the cabinet coordination department said the dairy plants, including two milk powder plants, would be opened at Darbhanga, Rohtas, Gaya, Sitamarhi and Gopalganj, on which the government would spend ₹316 crore.

Giving nod to the animal husbandry and fish resources department's proposal, the state cabinet approved SIDBI Cluster Development Fund (SCDF) approved loan for setting up a dairy plant each at 2 lakh litre capacity at Darbhanga and Wazirganj (Gaya Ji) while another plant of one lakh litre capacity is to be set up at Gopalganj, Siddharth told reporters here.

The dairy plant at Darbhanga will be set up at a cost of ₹71.32 crore while two other plants at Gaya Ji and Gopalganj will be set up at cost of ₹50.27 crore and ₹54.73 crore, respectively.

The milk powder plant will be set up at 30 metric tonne each at Dehri-On-Sone (Rohtas) and Sitamarhi, Siddharth said, adding that plant at Rohtas and Sitamarhi will be set up at a cost of ₹69.66 crore and ₹70.33 crore, respectively.
