TMC wins Kaliganj; girl killed after crude bomb hurled at a victory rally

A 13-year-old girl was killed in an explosion after a crude bomb was allegedly hurled by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers during a victory rally after the party won the bypoll at Kaliganj in West Bengal's Nadia district on Monday, officers aware of the matter said, adding that four people have been arrested in this connection.

Following the death, chief minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered police to take strict action against the culprits.
The victory rally was organised after TMC candidate Alifa Ahmed won the bypoll by 50,049 votes. While Ahmed received 102,759 votes, BJP candidate Ashish Ghosh got 52,710 votes.
