Replace Urdu, Persian terms with Hindi ones in police parlance: Raj

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Rajasthan government has directed the state police to replace traditional Urdu and Persian words used in the police proceedings with Hindi ones, said officials.
JAIPUR:
"A letter was recently received from the state home minister Jawahar Singh Bedham regarding the replacement of the Urdu terms of the police proceedings with Hindi. Therefore, the ADGP (training) is being hereby ordered to gather the necessary inputs on the Urdu terms from all the police stations of the state and take necessary actions," read a copy of the order issued by the Director General of Police Utkal Ranjan Sahoo on November 22. HT has seen a copy of the order.
Another order issued by ADGP (training) on December 11 to police superintendents in every district asking them to "suggest such Urdu words and send a report to the range office at earliest."
