PM slams assault on BJP MP, MLA visiting flood-hit areas of Bengal

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, including a party MP and MLA, were allegedly assaulted on Monday by a mob during their visit to flood-hit areas in Jalpaiguri district, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing the incident as “outright appalling” as he attacked the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government over the “absolutely pathetic law and order situation in the state”.
BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Sankar Ghosh sustained injuries in the alleged attack by a mob, who also pelted stones at the former's vehicle, during their visit to disaster-affected areas in the Nagrakata community block.
