Kin of student injured in US get appointment for visa after MEA help

The family of the Indian woman who is battling for life in a hospital in California after sustaining serious injuries in a road accident was granted an appointment for a visa to the United States on Thursday evening, hours after the Indian authorities interceded with their US counterparts on the matter, people familiar with the matter said.
NEW DELHI/PUNE:
Neelam Shinde, 35, from Satara district in Maharashtra, was critically injured when she was hit by a bike while on an e-cycle on February 14. The student of California State University was admitted to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where she is in the intensive care unit.
