HC suspends all mining activities in Bageshwar

The Uttarakhand high court has suspended all mining activities in the state's Bageshwar district with immediate effect following a report on damages caused to houses due to sandstone mining in the region, and reprimanded local administration for "turning a blind eye" to the problem.
PITHORAGARH:
A bench of chief justice G Narendar and justice Manoj Tiwari issued the direction on Monday after the high court-appointed court commissioners Mayank Joshi and Sharang Dhulia submitted a report, which pointed to emergence of cracks on the walls of the houses in multiple villages in Banda area of the district.
