Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dulal Sarkar was shot dead at Malda district in West Bengal on Thursday morning, police said, adding that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
KOLKATA:
"The arrested men are suspected to be contract killers and are being interrogated. Police told me that one of them is from Bihar, and the other is from Englishbazar in Malda," said cabinet minister Firhad Hakim.
Sarkar, 61, vice-president of the party's Malda unit and a businessman, was shot dead in his factory in the town. "Four men came on a motorcycle after Sarkar reached his factory. He tried to hide inside a shop when the miscreants opened fire. The attack was caught on a security camera," a district police officer said requesting anonymity.
