Educated women can't sit idle to claim maintenance from spouse

The law does not favour a well-educated woman to sit idle without trying to pursue any work merely to get maintenance from the husband for her sustenance, the Orissa high court held, as it reduced the maintenance amount awarded to a woman by a family court.
BHUBANESWAR:
Justice Gourishankar Satpathy made the remarks while hearing a petition filed by the husband challenging the family court's order that directed him to pay ₹8,000 per month in maintenance to his estranged wife under Section 125 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
