ROURKELA: In a thrilling Hockey India League (HIL) match at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium here, the Tamil Nadu Dragons came back from two goals down to secure a draw against the UP Rudras. In the process, the Dragons secured their place in the semi-finals at the expense of Rudras. Sudeep Chrimako (8th) and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (15th) scored for the UP Rudras while Jip Janssen (32nd) and Thomas Sorsby (53rd) scored for the Dragons. The UP Rudras won the shootout 3-2 in sudden death to secure the bonus point.
Earlier, Harmanpreet Singh-led Soorma Hockey Club advanced to the semis with a 1-1 (3-0) victory against Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers. Gurjant Singh (10th) gave Soorma the lead while Jugraj Singh (56') equalised for the Tigers towards the end.
Bengal Tigers will play the Tamil Nadu Dragons in the first semi-final on Friday while Soorma Hockey Club will play the Hyderabad Toofans in the second semi-final.
Vandana in India squad PTI ADDS: Veteran striker Vandana Katariya was on Wednesday named in the 24-member Indian women's hockey team for the Bhubaneswar leg of the FIH Pro League, beginning next month while teenage forward Sonam was included as a standby.
India will face England, Netherlands, Spain and Germany twice each from February 15.
