'Motive to divide people of country': Rahul in Srinagar

The idea behind the terror attack at Pahalgam in south Kashmir was to divide the people of the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Friday, stressing the need for India to stand united to defeat the motive of terrorists.

SRINAGAR: He also reiterated the united Opposition's support to the Union government in its response to the gruesome attack.

The leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha arrived in Srinagar in the morning to get a sense of the ground situation in the aftermath of the April 22 terrorist attack at the Baisaran meadow that claimed 26 lives and left several injured.

"It is a terrible tragedy and I came here to get a sense of what is going on and to help. The entire people of Jammu and Kashmir have condemned this terrible act. They have fully supported the nation," Gandhi told reporters.
