January 31, 2025

Two weeks after booking Congress member of Parliament from Sitapur Rakesh Rathore, the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday arrested him for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman over a period of four years, promising marriage and a political career, according to Sitapur superintendent of police (SP), Chakresh Mishra.

LUCKNOW:

The MP eluded police since January 17 when he was booked, amid attempts to secure anticipatory bail in the case, but a Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court on Wednesday turned down his petition for anticipatory bail and directed him to surrender in the Sitapur district and sessions court within two weeks.
