IIP growth loses pace, falls to 4% in FY25

Industrial activity lost momentum in 2024-25 compared to the previous fiscal year as seen in the Index of Industrial production (IIP) growth falling to 4% in 2024-25 compared to 5.9% in 2023-24.
NEW DELHI: To be sure, the monthly numbers suggest an improvement in industrial activity between February (2.7%) and March (3%) 2025.
The annual moderation in IIP growth is on account of a slowdown in manufacturing, which saw its growth fall to 4% in FY25 from 5.5% in FY24. These numbers are keeping with the trend seen in second advanced estimates of Gross Value Added (GVA) numbers released on February 28, which show manufacturing growth falling to 4.3% in FY25 from 12.3% in FY24.
