UPP athletes dominate state athletics, emerge champs

Spirited Uttar Pradesh Police finished top in the 28th Uttar Pradesh State Senior (B) Athletics Championship, winning 27 medals, including 10 gold, eight silver and nine bronzes, at the Guru Govind Singh Sports College here on Wednesday.
Hosts Lucknow with five gold, two silver and two bronzes stood runners-up, whereas Meerut with three gold, one silver and four bronzes stood third. In all, 704 athletes from 65 districts of Uttar Pradesh took part in the two-day championship.
‘As per Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association the athletes, who crossed the qualification marks, will be participating in the 64th National Inter State Senior Athletic Championship, scheduled to be held in Chennai from August 20 to August 24.
