Top court junks plea against HC order on Sambhal mosque
Hindustan Times Lucknow
|April 02, 2025
The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a plea challenging permission granted by Allahabad high court to Archaeological Survey of India to paint the outer facade of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal and install decorative lighting, provided no tampering was done to the structure.
NEW DELHI:
The bench, comprising CJI Sanjiv Khanna and justice Sanjay Kumar, refused to interfere with the high court's decision, emphasising that no prejudice was caused by the order.
"There is no prejudice caused...we are not going to entertain this," remarked the bench, dismissing the plea filed by petitioner Satish Kumar Aggarwal.
The court underscored that such matters did not warrant its intervention, particularly after the high court had examined all the facts before passing its order.
