State authorities hand in glove with each other: HC

Commenting on the construction of unauthorised buildings, including one in Clay Square in the state capital, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has observed that the state authorities are hand in glove with each other to give legitimacy to an unauthorised act strictly forbidden under the law.

LUCKNOW: Law must take its course and the court has no option but to await appropriate action against the erring officials/officers too, it further said.

A division bench of Justice Attau Rahman Masoodi and Justice Manish Kumar passed the order on February 24 while hearing a set of petitions concerning illegal constructions in the state capital.

On February 12, the court took suo motu cognizance of the issue and directed the state government and the housing department to conduct a citywide survey of unauthorised buildings, including Clay Square. The authorities were asked to submit a comprehensive report by February 24.
