Opposition parties in Maharashtra on Saturday welcomed the joint rally held by Shiv Sena’ (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, calling the reunion of hitherto estranged cousins after nearly two decades a “historic moment”.

Thackeray cousins shared public stage at a victory rally in Mumbai to celebrate the withdrawal of two government resolutions (GRs) by the Mahayuti government seeking to introduce Hindi as a third language from class | in state schools.

“We have witnessed a historic moment,” Shiv Sena (UBT) lawmaker Priyanka Chaturvedi was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“This shows that they will stay united. Both of them have come together after 20 years. The excitement of people shows that they wanted both of them to come together.”
