Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday made a strong pitch for year-round tourism in Uttarakhand to strengthen its economy in a big way, saying there should be no "off-season" in the picturesque Himalayan state.

DEHRADUN:

Addressing an event at Harsil village in Uttarkashi district to promote winter tourism, the prime minister said Uttarakhand provides opportunities for visitors to recharge and re-energise through yoga and Ayurveda, and appealed to universities, private schools, and colleges to consider the hill state for students' winter trips. He also urged people across the country to consider Uttarakhand as a destination for winter weddings.
