Plant nurseries to assist Shimla admn in mitigating landslide risks

In the wake of increasing incidents of landslides in Shimla, the district administration is preparing plant nurseries which will help in soil conservation as part of its efforts for disaster mitigation, officials said during a meeting to review disaster management system held on Monday with Shimla deputy commissioner (DC) Anupam Kashyap as the chairperson.

"We are preparing nurseries for plants that will be used for soil conservation at places where landslides have occurred during the rainy season", said Kashyap. He asked the officials to prepare a detailed action plan in this regard.

The DC said retrofitting of the state museum at the Chaura Maidan is proposed in view of earthquake.
