CM to table 8th CAG report in Delhi Assembly on April 1

Seven of the 14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports that were pending since 2014 have been tabled and discussed in the Delhi Assembly so far, and the chief minister will table another one on April 1, Speaker Vijender Gupta said on Friday.

The remarks came as the House concluded discussions on the latest CAG report on the performance of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) from 2015 to 2022.

The Speaker also referred all the seven reports to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to submit its findings within three months.

The health and transport departments have also been instructed to submit action-taken reports within a month regarding the CAG reports to the assembly secretariat, Gupta said.

On Friday, the Assembly concluded its discussions on the DTC report which highlighted several irregularities in the operation of the corporation.

None of the opposition MLAs, however, were present during the discussion on the report — six of them were expelled during the Question Hour in the morning after they disturbed proceedings, while the rest walked out in protest.

"The decline in DTC's performance stems largely from a lack of political will, ineffective oversight, and an excessive focus on publicity by the previous government," CM Gupta said.
