Capital Elects Fewer Women to Assembly

Fewer women have been elected to the eighth Delhi legislative assembly, with only five in a 70-member House—down from eight in the previous polls in 2020, an analysis of the winners has revealed.
NEW DELHI:
The results of the Delhi assembly polls were declared on February 8, with a sweeping victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which won 48 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was reduced to 22, down from 62 earlier. Four of the five women elected in this year's polls are from the BJP—Rekha Gupta, Poonam Sharma, Neelam Pahalwan, and Shikha Roy, along with the AAP's Atishi.
