Oppn demands Parliament session on Pahalgam

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to convene a special session of Parliament to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and demonstrate a collective resolve.

"At this moment, when unity and solidarity is essential, Opposition believes that it is important to convene a special session of both Houses of Parliament at the earliest," Kharge, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said in his letter dated April 28 to the PM. He shared the letter on X.

"This will be a powerful demonstration of our collective resolve and will to deal with the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam on innocent citizens on April 22. It is our fond hope that the session will be accordingly convened," he added.

At least 26 people, mostly tourists from other states, were killed in the terrorist attack at a popular meadow near Pahalgam in south Kashmir on April 22.
