NEW DELHI: Seven people were arrested for allegedly running a racket procuring fake passports for alleged gangsters and criminals to flee abroad, police said on Friday.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Sanjay Kumar Sain said, "The accused forged Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, PAN cards and other papers to create fake credentials. These were used to secure legitimate Indian passports through their sources in passport offices," he said.
Police said that they arrested Nishant Saxena (42), the mastermind and an advocate, Sufiyan (28) an agent at Lucknow passport office, Atul Kumar (34), a forger, Sukhdeep Singh (36), who referred clients to Saxena, Monu alias Aryan (27), belonging to the Neeraj Bawana gang, and Harpal Singh (57).
