Govt talking to both Meitei, Kuki communities: Shah

Union home minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that the Narendra Modi government is holding talks with both Meitei and Kuki communities to ensure lasting peace in strife-torn Manipur.
NEW DELHI:
Participating in the "Agenda Aaj Tak 2024", the Union minister also reiterated that the BJP government will not allow any tinkering with the current reservation system in the country. "Our government is firm that there will be no tinkering with the current reservation system in the country. It was the Congress that weakened the quota for SCs, STs and OBCs by giving it to Muslims."
On Manipur, where more than 260 people have been killed in ethnic clashes since May 2023, Shah said: "The government is talking to both Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur and expects to find a solution to the current situation."
