Will Reinvestigate Case If Cong Voted To Power

Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said if his party is voted to power in 2027, it will constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to reinvestigate the Pauri Garhwal receptionist murder case and ensure that all culprits are brought to justice.

DEHRADUN: Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat said if his party is voted to power in 2027, it will constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to reinvestigate the Pauri Garhwal receptionist murder case and ensure that all culprits are brought to justice.

"The court verdict has come... but divine justice is still awaited. The brutality faced by the victim is an insult to womanhood. Had the evidence not been tampered with, the culprits would have received the death penalty instead of life imprisonment. If Congress is voted to power in 2027, we will have the case reinvestigated by a special investigation team," Harish Rawat said while speaking to media in Haldwani.

He added, "Powerful people were involved in the murder. To protect them, the state government deliberately destroyed key evidence. A bulldozer was run over the resort belonging to the accused....but on whose orders? No one has answered that. CCTV cameras were damaged. The identity of the VIP for whom the victim was being pressured has still not been revealed. Our SIT will make the identity of that VIP public."
