Missing for over two weeks, wife surfaces in Ghazipur, ‘surrenders’

The Indore-based woman Sonam Raghuvanshi, who had been missing from East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya since May 23 with her husband who was later found murdered, surfaced at a dhaba (eatery) along the Varanasi-Gorakhpur Highway under Nandganj police station area of Ghazipur district in eastern Uttar Pradesh early on Monday and surrendered, police said.
VARANASI/LUCKNOW: The Indore-based woman Sonam Raghuvanshi, who had been missing from East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya since May 23 with her husband who was later found murdered, surfaced at a dhaba (eatery) along the Varanasi-Gorakhpur Highway under Nandganj police station area of Ghazipur district in eastern Uttar Pradesh early on Monday and surrendered, police said.
In a further development, Smt Sonam Raghuvanshi has voluntarily surrendered at the Nandganj police station in Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, and is currently in the safe custody of the Uttar Pradesh police. Necessary legal protocols are being followed for her transit and her formal statement," the office of the director general of police, Meghalaya, said in a statement.
Sonam and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore-based businessman, had gone to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. On May 23, the couple had gone missing from a location in East Khasi hills district of Meghalaya. On June 2, Raja Raghuvanshi's body was found in a gorge in Khasi hills after which Meghalaya police registered a case.
