E-registration for Char Dham hits business, travel firms flag concern

A section of travel and related trader organisations, under the aegis of Sanyukt Morcha Paryatan Udyog, have submitted a memorandum to Haridwar city magistrate Kusum Chauhan opposing the ongoing Char Dham online registration process as they demanded free registration process and offline mode to be given preference as online registration mode was hurting their business prospects.
HARIDWAR: A section of travel and related trader organisations, under the aegis of Sanyukt Morcha Paryatan Udyog, have submitted a memorandum to Haridwar city magistrate Kusum Chauhan opposing the ongoing Char Dham online registration process as they demanded free registration process and offline mode to be given preference as online registration mode was hurting their business prospects.
"Since ancient times, Char Dham pilgrimage has been going on. Pilgrim arrival at Haridwar also largely fosters the business and livelihood of traders, local priests. But online registration process is posing an inconvenience to pilgrims, local traders and tourism sector in whole. We want no cap on pilgrim registration and offline mode should also be given due weightage," Arvind Khaneja, convenor of the Sanyukt Morcha Paryatan Udyog, said on Sunday.
