BJP Names All District Chiefs, Wait on for State Unit Head

DEHRADUN: After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named its district chiefs on Monday, all eyes are set on the appointment of the new president of the party's state unit, though some party leaders have said that current state party chief Mahendra Bhatt may be re-elected.

A senior leader of the BJP, on condition of anonymity, said: "There are high chances that Bhatt will be repeated as the state BJP chief. In case Bhatt is not repeated, the names that are being considered within the organization include state general secretary Aditya Kothari, MLA Vinod Chamoli, former cabinet minister Khajan Dass, MLA BB Gairola, Ajendra Ajay, Dipti Rawat Bhardwaj and party MLA Asha Nautiyal."

The current state BJP chief Mahendra Bhatt, a two-time MLA, took charge in July 2022, four months after the BJP formed the government in the state. Bhatt, who was defeated by Rajendra Singh Bhandari of the Congress in 2022 assembly election, had replaced Madan Kaushik.
