Maha starts issuing Kunbi certificates on Modi’s birthday

MUMBAI: The administration of eight districts in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region started distributing Kunbi (other backward classes) certificates to Maratha applicants on Wednesday as part ofthe Seva Pandharavada to mark PM Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, two weeks after the state issued a government resolution (GR) to implement the Hyderabad Gazette and enable Marathas to get the OBC documentation.

The state government had planned the service fortnight primarily to clear rural citizens’ applications for revenue department services such as issuing certificates toresolve land disputes and regu-larise housing encroachments among other things. The eight districts of Marathwada region, where the Kunbi certificate issue is the most relevant, have also included the issuance of these documents during the 15-day drive.
