‘Daily pill helps people lose 10% of weight in 18 mths’

A daily pill that is cheaper and easier to take than currently available weight loss drugs helps people lose around a tenth of their body weight over nearly 18 months, a study said on Thursday.
A new generation of appetite-suppressing drugs called GLP-1 agonists — which includes blockbuster brands Ozempic and Mounjaro — has become massively popular in recent years. However these treatments require regular injections, refrigeration and can be prohibitively expensive. With an immense amount of money at stake, pharmaceutical firms have been racing to be the first to market with a simpler pill that harnesses GLP-I’s weight loss powers.
