Coordinated effort: 550 schools to participate

The Delhi government's Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed at least 550 schools across the Capital to participate in Wednesday's mock security drill as part of a coordinated push to strengthen emergency preparedness and raise civic awareness among students.

"All schools are accordingly directed to ensure full participation in the exercise and to facilitate the DDMA (District Disaster Management Authority) teams in the right earnest for building a culture of safety," the DoE circular issued Monday stated.

Heads of schools have also been asked to submit detailed reports, along with photographs, to their respective deputy directors of education by the end of the day. These will then be compiled and submitted to DoE.

While some schools held orientation sessions on Tuesday, others began drills a day early.

Rajesh Kumar Gupta, principal of Government Boys School in Model Town, said their school conducted a comprehensive civil defence mock drill on Tuesday.
