Centre lax in regularising Sainik Farm colonies: HC

NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Thursday reprimanded the central government for its "delay" in taking a call regarding regularisation of south Delhi's Sainik Farm colony, saying that its "inaction" and "laxity" was resulting in rampant construction in the area.
A bench of chief justice DK Upadhyay and justice Tushar Rao Gedela asked the Centre's counsel, Rakesh Kumar, to seek instructions regarding the time within which it would formulate a policy regarding regularisation of the colony.
The court's directions came after perusing an affidavit filed by the Centre in May 2022, which stated that it will take adequate policy measures in "due course" for regularisation of the colony and could not prescribe a specific time since the issue, being a matter of policy, required detailed discussion with various stakeholders.
However, the court on Thursday said the affidavit failed to disclose the final decision.
