UT Okays Axing of 352 Trees to Shift Marble Market

Sector 53-54 furniture market will also be shifted; construction at Sector 56 site to be completed by March 31; auction expected in April
CHANDIGARH: The UT administration has approved felling of 352 fully grown trees to facilitate relocation of the Dhanas marble and furniture market to a 44-acre site in Sector 56-West. The administration has set a deadline of March 31 to complete the construction work after which the sites will be auctioned to relocate the two unauthorized markets—the marble market in Dhanas and the furniture market in Sectors 53 and 54.
