CHANDIGARH: The rising temperature during the day has spilled over into the night as well, bringing little relief from the prevailing heat.

The minimum temperature rose from 18.1°C on Sunday to 19.9°C on Monday, 1.2 degrees above normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

This marks a six-notch spike over the past five days.

IMD officials attribute the rise to warm winds sweeping the region and the ongoing seasonal shift from winter to summer.

The maximum temperature also continued its upward climb, going from 37.4°C on Sunday to 37.6°C on Monday—4.6 degrees above normal.

According to the IMD forecast, it's likely to breach the 40°C mark in the coming days as clear skies persist.
