Twenty-four days after being released on bail by a Bathinda court in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case, the Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested the sacked senior Punjab Police constable Amandeep Kaur on Monday for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
BATHINDA:
She was arrested with 17.7 gm of heroin from Badal Road in Bathinda city on April 2 while driving in a black SUV.
VB arrested Amandeep on Monday from her friend's residence at Badal village in Muktsar. A spokesperson of VB said that the accused will be produced in a Bathinda court on Tuesday.
In an official statement, VB said that a corruption case was registered against the accused at the VB police station in Bathinda range following an inquiry into a complaint.
On April 22, director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said in Faridkot that Bathinda's senior superintendent of police (SSP) had requested the VB to investigate Amandeep's assets.
During the investigation, details of her movable and immovable properties acquired between 2018 and 2025 were scrutinised, along with her salary, bank accounts and loan records, reads the statement.
