Border retreat event sees 50% dip in spectators

The turnout of spectators for the beating retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar has dipped by nearly 50% in the wake of escalating diplomatic tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday, officials aware of the matter said on Friday.
AMRITSAR:
"The spectator gallery at the Attari-Wagah border has a capacity of 25,000 people. From Monday to Friday, the average footfall remains around 20,000, while the count rises to 25,000 over the weekend. On Thursday and Friday, only around 10,000 visitors came to watch the parade organised by the Border Security Force (BSF)", officials from BSF and Punjab Police said.
