Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Kedarnath Asha Nautiyal has demanded a ban on non-Hindus in Kedarnath Dham, saying some of them were bringing meat and alcohol to the shrine to tarnish its reputation.
DEHRADUN: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Kedarnath Asha Nautiyal has demanded a ban on non-Hindus in Kedarnath Dham, saying some of them were bringing meat and alcohol to the shrine to tarnish its reputation.
Nautiyal said that she will make every effort to ensure that the sanctity of the temple is maintained.
Speaking to mediapersons on Saturday, Nautiyal said, "Minister Saurabh Bahuguna held a meeting with the (Rudraprayag) administration, public and several traders associated with hotels, horses, mules, tents and shops. The purpose of the meeting was to take their important suggestions and discuss the arrangements. During this meeting, traders openly said that some non-Hindu people were engaging in activities such as bringing meat, alcohol and other prohibited items to the area, which is tarnishing the reputation of the religious site."
