Convict on the run held after 11 years

A 45-year-old convict, who was serving a life sentence for murdering a police constable and fled police custody from a hospital 11 years ago, was arrested in Pune, Maharashtra, officers aware of the matter said on Friday.
BENGALURU:
The accused, identified as Ambarish alias Ambadas Natikar, was taken into custody by a special operations team from the Kalaburagi suburban police station, they added.
Ambadas had been absconding since 2014, when he escaped from a hospital where he was undergoing treatment for stomach-related issues while serving his sentence. He had been convicted in 2010 for killing constable Aswini Kumar, who was on night patrol duty at Biddapur Colony in Kalaburagi in 2009, police said.
