BJP's PC George Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody

BJP leader and former seven-time MLA PC George was on Monday remanded to 14-day judicial custody after a court in Erattupetta in Kottayam district rejected his application for bail in a hate speech case.
KOCHI:
George surrendered before the Munsiff magistrate court at Erattupetta on Monday earlier in the day along with BJP supporters and family members even as the local police arrived at his home in Poonjar to arrest him.
The court rejected his bail petition, asked the police to keep him in custody till evening and then sent him to 14-day remand.
However, the 73-year-old BJP leader was admitted to the cardiology wing of the Government Medical College hospital in Kottayam Monday evening due to variations in his ECG and the need for him to have artificial oxygen support.
