NAKODAR POLICE FIRING: HOUSE PANEL TO PROBE DISAPPEARANCE OF REPORT

The Punjab assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution to form a House panel to locate the missing action taken report (ATR) related to the 1986 Nakodar Police firing, in which four Sikh youth were killed during protests against the burning of “birs” of Guru Granth Sahib.
The resolution was moved by finance minister Harpal Cheema after speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan raised the issue just before CM Bhagwant Mann was set to speak on the anti-sacrilege bill.
The panel will investigate the disappearance of the ATR, which is reportedly missing from the vidhan sabha records.
