Night buses return for the summer and will run for the rest of the year
Herald Express
|June 04, 2025
NIGHT buses will continue to be available in areas across Devon on Saturday nights until the end of the year.
Following successful schemes last summer and Christmas, routes will continue in North Devon and Torquay, with ones in Plymouth and Exeter.
Devon and Cornwall Police and the police and crime commissioner's office are working with partners to provide seven new routes across the two counties in addition to the four routes from last year.
The services, provided by Stagecoach in Devon and First Bus in Newquay, started operating on Saturday evenings in May.
They will run throughout the year in a bid to reduce drink and drug related incidents. The buses will also be available in Devon on Friday, December 19, and New Year's Eve.
The services have been set up by Devon and Cornwall Police and funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner with support from the councils in the respective areas as well as other partners.
