Gulls come up short with Boreham the better team

TORQUAY United will be playing National League South football again next season after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Boreham Wood in their play-off semi-final.
The crowd of 5,721 - just a couple of hundred from Boreham - got behind the team throughout, but a bundled goal in the 60th minute was all that separated the two teams at the end, after nine minutes of added time.
A save by Nathan Ashmore denied Jordan Young right at the death - but to be fair, Torquay had not caused the visitors enough problems in the Boreham box all game, and they will probably look back on the match regretting that.
Manager Paul Wotton made two changes to the team that started the 4-1 win at Hemel Hempstead Town with Jordan Dyer surprisingly back in defence following his short-term injury, and Oscar Threlkeld in mid field in place of Omar Mussa.
There were seven substitutes, a change for the play-offs, among them a goalkeeper, Owen Foster, who is on loan from Hull City. There was no place for Ozzy Zanzala on the bench.
