Charity's Strictly night is a success with £176k raised

GLITTER, sequins and show-stopping routines lit up Torquay's Princess Theatre as 12 local business figures took to the stage for Rowcroft Hospice's annual charity spectacular.
Strictly Rowcroft took place on Saturday, May 17, and the sold-out show raised a £176,000 to support Rowcroft's work providing specialist end-of-life care for people facing life-limiting illnesses across South Devon.
The contestants underwent weeks of training with Danceworks Devon before performing a series of Latin and ballroom dances in front of a live audience.
Barry Young, managing director of Brixham Trawler Agents, was named Strictly Rowcroft champion after earning more than 12,000 audience votes. He wowed spectators with a slow foxtrot and rumba, dancing with professional partner Alexandra Jay.
