THE outbreak of cryptosporidium in the Brixham area last year was even worse than feared, according to the UK's health watchdog.

About 17,000 households and businesses in the Brixham area were issued with a 'boil water' notice in May 2024 as scores of reported cases emerged.
South West Water initially denied there was a problem, but quickly back tracked as word spread like wildfire of a sickness bug in the port.
