Viki Lopez-Love, 52, who is originally from Cwmbran and now lives in nearby Griffithstown, found out recently via ancestry websites she is a descendant of 17th-century pirate John Stockwell.
Viki is one of many to believe she is a descendant of the pirate also known as Long John Stockwell and Black Jack Stockwell.
He's believed to have sailed alongside Dundee-born privateer Captain William Kidd before eventually leaving behind sea life and settling down in London where he reportedly bought land now known as the Stockwell-Angell estates which stretches across the city.
