Uncle held for abusing child thrown into river by mom

The Kerala police have detained the uncle of the four-year-old child who was thrown into a river in Kochi by her mother earlier this week, triggering widespread outrage.
Reports quoting police sources said the autopsy revealed that the child was subjected to repeated rape and the man had admitted to have committed the crime.
The post-mortem report shockingly confirmed that the child had also been sexually assaulted on the day she was killed.
The incident came to light on Monday night when Sandhya, the child's mother, returned home around 3.30 p.m. without her daughter, Kalyani, who was at the local playschool.
