Flying the UAE flag high, Marwan Suloom scripted history on Monday with a breathtaking performance that earned him the silver medal in the Intellectual Impairment (ILCA 6) category at the inaugural 2025 World Sailing Inclusion Championships in Mussanah, Oman.
Facing a formidable international lineup - including Britain's seasoned athlete Murray Macdonald and Hong Kong's rising star Tsz Hin Cheung - Suloom showcased exceptional mastery of the waves and unwavering precision on the shimmering waters of Barcelo Mussanah Resort, securing a well-deserved place on the podium.
Representing the UAE's Special Olympics team, Suloom finished just two points behind Macdonald, who claimed gold with a total of 32 points.
"I am very happy with today's results. I truly enjoyed my time on the water, and this experience has only strengthened my motivation for the future. The competition was incredibly strong, which made every race both challenging and rewarding," said Suloom.
"Looking ahead, I'm fully committed to improving my performance and pushing myself even further so I can secure the top spot in the upcoming races. The results reflect our preparation and determination. I'm excited for what's next and grateful for every opportunity to grow, compete, and represent the UAE at the highest level," he added.
