Science and spirituality go hand in hand, says Sunita

Indian-origin former Nasa astronaut Sunita Williams said science and spirituality are not contradictory but complementary, asserting that her experiences in space deepened her sense of wonder about the planet and humanity’s place in it.
Speaking at the ninth edition of the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) here, Williams said looking back at Earth from space makes one recognise both the marvel of the planet and the interconnectedness of all life.
Responding to a question on her personal beliefs and her decision to carry a Ganesha idol and a copy of the Bhagavad Gita during her space missions, Williams said spirituality and scientific exploration could coexist.
