Revenue row stalls release of Patriot

The highly anticipated Malayalam film Patriot, which promises to reunite two of the industry's biggest icons, Mammootty and Mohanlal, has run into unexpected turbulence weeks before its scheduled theatrical release on April 23.

A dispute over box office revenue sharing between the film's producers and theatre owners has prompted the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) to advise cinemas across the state not to screen the film, throwing its release plans into uncertainty. The decision by FEUOK, the influential body representing theatre owners in Kerala, follows disagreements over the revenue-sharing formula proposed by the producers of the big-budget project.
