Gulf Today
|October 03, 2025
As part of its ongoing supervision and commitment to preserving the Sharjah Central Souq's distinctive and attractive architectural identity, the Sharjah City Municipality has carried out comprehensive maintenance work on the market.
This follows the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who recognises the Souq as a distinguished tourist destination and facility.
The municipality also recognises the Souq's status as a major shopping destination, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy its facilities and exquisite design. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, emphasised that the renovation and development work at the Central Souq aims to extend the building's lifespan, preserving it as a heritage and cultural landmark, as well as an attractive tourist destination.
