The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the first-instance court's ruling jailing an Arab national for 3 years, to be followed by deportation and fining him Dhs247,000, after being convicted of conniving with fugitives to detain the owner of a tourism company and another employee who they assaulted and then stole the fine amount from the company’s safe.
The case dates back to March 2025 when the ‘owner of a company in Dubai's Naif area filed a report stating that he and another employee were assaulted, threatened, and robbed. The victim stated in interrogations that the suspect, along with five others, entered his office and demanded he open a safe inside, threatening him with a knife.
